On Tuesday 19 June 2012, the Bike
Night team received their prestigious Prince Michael International
Road Safety Award at the Bike Night event on Poole
Quay.
The
team were originally presented with the award by HRH Prince Michael of Kent at a
glittering ceremony at The Savoy Hotel in London last year.
The Prince Michael International Road Safety
Award was given to Dorset Police, Poole Tourism and the Volunteer
Marshals.
PC
Chris Smith, BikeSafe Co-ordinator, said: “This award marks a long
time relationship between the police, local tourism office and
marshalling team.
“It shows that with a team approach and some
hard work over the near decade we have been together, you can
achieve some great results where the event grows but keeps the
safety of the riders at its heart.
“I welcome the award as a mark of this
achievement and look forward to another ten years of working to
keep everyone that attends safe.”
Working in partnership with event organisers
Poole Tourism, Dorset Police’s Bike Safe team use the event to work
directly with bikers who attend over the 26 weeks of the season to
spread road safety messages.
