Terms of Reference for Police Meetings

Mission

To create a safe and secure environment for LGB&T people by co-ordinating a Pan Dorset strategic response to homophobic and transphobic incidents.

Key Objectives of the Group

  • To support all agencies to improve the reporting and recording of homophobic and transphobic incidents.
  • To monitor the full extent of homophobic and transphobic incidents.
  • To achieve an integrated service for those who experience homophobic and transphobic incidents.
  • Share and disseminate best practice between agencies.
  • To develop and implement effective joint strategic priorities for prevention work.

 

Functionality of the Group

  • Meet quarterly or as required.
  • Consider how best to tackle all aspects of homophobic and transphobic crime in the future.
  • Develop a plan of action that will be regularly monitored by the group.
  • Identify issues that are best addressed on a Pan Dorset basis and reach agreement on how effectively to progress these.
  • Meet in smaller groups to take actions forward – as and when necessary.

 

Action Plan

  • Secure funding.
  • Develop initiatives and campaigns to raise awareness of the group’s work.
  • Ensuring that best practices are shared.
  • Publicise the good and positive work done by the group.

 

Membership of the Group should aim to include

  1. The Chair will be the Diversity Manager, Partnership Diversity Development Team (PDDT)
  2. Dorset Police Officers
  3. Dorset Police Support Staff
  4. Dorset Police Special Constables
  5. Dorset Police Community Support Officers
