Appeal after handbag theft in Bridport

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a man stole a teenage girl’s handbag in Bridport.

The incident, in which a thief approached a 16-year-old Bridport girl from behind and took her handbag, happened along St Andrew’s Road, near the church, at around 10.15pm on Friday, 30 October 2009.

The girl was walking her two dogs at the time of the incident.

The stolen black handbag contained the girl’s mobile phone.

Police Constable Frank Poe, of Dorchester police said: "The offender ran off toward the town centre – it is believed he was wearing a hooded-top and denim trousers.

"I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this theft, and anyone who may have seen a man running away from St Andrew’s Road at around 10.15pm, last Friday, to contact me urgently.

"I would also like to speak with anyone who has information about the man responsible, as soon as possible."
