Introduction to the Publication Scheme
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires that Dorset Police
adopt, operate and maintain a publication scheme. The purpose of
the scheme is to highlight the types of information that Dorset
Police will publish through our website or make available
immediately upon receiving a request. The types of
information included within our publication scheme are those that
have been defined by the Information Commissioner. Dorset Police is
committed to publishing information in line with the minimum
standards laid down by the Association of Chief Police
Officers.
The responsibility for maintaining the Dorset Police Publication
Scheme rests with the Head of the Professional Standards
Department :

Mr Keith Campbell, the Freedom of
Information Manager, is responsible for managing
the scheme on a daily basis.

Information Classes
Information within the scheme is divided into categories called
Information Classes. In each class of information you will find a
variety of information connected to the name of the class.
Who We Are and What We Do
> Organisational information, structures, locations and
contacts.
What We Spend and How We Spend It >
Financial information relating to projected and actual income and
expenditure, procurement, contracts and financial audit
What Our Priorities Are and How We Are
Doing > Strategies and plans, performance indicators,
audits, inspections and reviews.
How We Make Decisions > Decision making
processes and records of decisions. Including the minutes of
various strategic, divisional and board level meetings.
Policies and Procedures > Current written
protocols, policies and procedures for delivering our services and
responsibilities.
Lists and Registers > information
contained only in currently maintained lists and registers. This
includes The Freedom of Information disclosure log.
Services Provided by the Police Force
>Information about the services provided by
Dorset Police, including leaflets, guidance and newsletters
produced for the public and businesses.
Dorset Police is also required to publish a guide to published
information.
