Poole Town & Oakdale Safer Neighbourhood Previous Priorities
You told us that the following issues were
a priority in your area:
| You said... there is street drinking and associated
anti-social behaviour taking place in Poole town centre |
|
We have... The Safer Neighbourhood Team
submitted evidence to support a Designated Public Places Order
(DPPO), covering parts of the town where alcohol-related
anti-social behaviour is occurring, to Borough of Poole's
Anti-Social Behaviour Team. In accordance with the standard
procedure for DPPOs, consulation is
being carried out with the affected community. Traders, residents
and local councillors have been invited to raise their views at a
public meeting set up to address these issues.
We have... Dorset Police has arrested 24 people since 1 October
2009, in the areas where anti-social behaviour is reported to be
occurring, on suspicion of committing offences relating to
anti-social behaviour including possession of controlled drugs,
disorderly conduct and breach of an anti-social behaviour
order.
A number of these arrests have come as a direct result of
information from the town’s Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
operators, following weekly briefings with Poole Town and Oakdale
Safer Neighbourhood Team.
Officers are also utilising their powers, under the Violent Crime
Reduction Act 2006, to direct individuals to leave a locality. Ten
people have been directed to leave areas where anti-social
behaviour is reported to be occurring since 1 October 2009.
Officers have also searched seven people under the Misuse of Drugs
Act 1971.

| You said…you are concerned about anti-social
behaviour around Christopher Crescent and St George's
Field |
| We have...Safer Neighbourhood Officers,
including officers from Borough of Poole's Anti-Social Behaviour
Team have spoken to those reported to be involved in anti-social
behaviour and their parents. There has been a reduction in the
number of reports of anti-social behaviour in the area. |
| You said…anti-social behaviour on Poole
Quay |
| We have…Special Constables and the Safer
Neighbourhood Team conducted extra patrols in the area of the quay,
increasing their presence so that they could respond quickly to any
reports of anti-social behaviour. Many of those involved in
anti-social behaviour in the area have now moved on but the Poole
Town and Oakdale Safer Neighbourhood Team continue to address
this as a community priority. |
